The drive across the country went smoothly. Mostly. There was a crazy storm in Kansas that chased us off the road, and camping in Tennessee in the middle of June was definitely hot and buggy, but overall, a smooth trip.
We stopped in Topeka, or as Jackson insisted and continues to insist "too-peek-a", and we took some obligatory photos with Wizard of Oz memorabilia.
We also stopped at a gas station in Metropolis, Illinois for this photo op, where Jackson made an uncomforable comment in his Superman voice about someone smoking. His Superman voice sounds a lot like Pee Wee Herman's voice, in case you were wondering.
Mia refused to pose as Wonder Woman, primarily due to her objection of women being portrayed in that manner. Or because she was onery.
The house is on the end of a cul-de-sac, so we have a funny wedge shaped yard. So, here's a picture of the longest side of the yard, and what Carson gets to mow every week. I'm standing on the curb, the blue dot out there is Carson, the lower dot is Mia, and the upper dot is Jackson sitting on the property line. Did we mention there's a hill in there too? Carson's mowing arms promise to be pretty impressive here by the end of the season.
Here's another picture of the side yard.
Here's the backyard. We're super excited to rake all those leaves this fall.
Tonight we explored a trail system that runs through Charlotte. There's an access point about a mile from our house. Being on this trail makes you feel like you are in the middle of the mountains, it's crazy. Except that the air is warm and muggy instead of cool and crisp like the delicious air in Utah.
Have we emphasized enough that it's really green and leafy here?
We even saw a few wild rabbits out tonight. Jackson and Mia made several good attempts at catching themselves a pet, but happily, rabbits are extremely fast and skittish.
We are enjoying getting to know a new area, it's really fun to explore. Neighbors and people from church have been extremely welcoming, and we're making some new friends. At the same time, we're homesick for all of you, and would like to make sure that everyone knows there's an open invitation to anyone who wants to visit! We have plenty of room, and we promise to take you cool places, and feed you delicious food, so start planning people!
